The United Arab Emirates is preparing to introduce an innovative solution in the field of security and mobility — a hybrid police vehicle named Magnus, which combines the functions of a patrol car and a mobile police station. The project is being developed by Eneron, a subsidiary of Kenstongi based in the UAE, and is expected to be deployed on the country’s roads between 2027 and 2028.
Magnus will have a range of up to 900 km on a single charge. Inside the vehicle, there will be a driver and a police operator who can deploy drones for real-time surveillance and situational monitoring directly from the vehicle. It will also be capable of remote operation and autonomous driving, and will feature 360-degree camera coverage with live data transmission.
One of the key features of Magnus is its multi-functionality. In addition to maintaining public safety, it will support mobile EV charging for stranded electric vehicle drivers — a vital function as the number of eco-friendly vehicles in the UAE continues to grow.
The vehicle is currently being showcased at the Make it in the Emirates exhibition, held at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, running through May 22, 2025. This initiative reflects the UAE’s commitment to sustainable development and technological leadership in the field of smart urban infrastructure.
⚠️ It is important to note: with the development of intelligent transport systems and stricter road controls, tourists and expats planning to rent or drive a vehicle in the UAE must carry a valid International Driving Permit (IDP). Driving without one — even with a national license — may be considered illegal. International driving permits issued through officially accredited organizations such as the International Drivers Association (IDA) are widely recognized, including in the UAE.
