
Dubai: Car plate number DD 5 sold for 35 million dirhams, while the charity auction raised 83.6 million dirhams
At the "Most Noble Number" charity auction held at the Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa, five exclusive car plate numbers were sold, generating over 75 million dirhams. The most expensive lot of the evening was the DD 5 plate, which fetched an astonishing 35 million dirhams. In total, the auction of special car plates and 20 premium mobile numbers raised 83.6 million dirhams. All proceeds will go toward the "Fathers’ Endowment" campaign, aimed at funding healthcare projects in underserved regions.
The biggest bidder of the night was Binghatti Holding’s Chairman, Muhammad BinGhatti. His team secured two highly sought-after plate numbers: DD 5 for 35 million dirhams and DD 15 for 9.2 million dirhams. His total bids amounted to 44.2 million dirhams, making up more than half of the auction’s total revenue. Among the participants was also a young child, whom the hosts referred to as "the cub." He successfully placed a bid for the DD 24 plate at 6.3 million dirhams on behalf of his father.
In addition to car plate numbers, the auction featured the sale of 20 premium mobile numbers, which collectively raised over 7 million dirhams. The most expensive numbers were du 0584444444, sold for 1.7 million dirhams, and e& UAE 0565000000, sold for 1.6 million dirhams. Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi is set to hold an online auction of 444 special plate numbers via the Emirates Auction app.
