Dubai’s robotic delivery system is set to expand

Dubai’s robotic delivery system is set to expand following the successful completion of a pilot project launched last month in the Sobha Hartland area.

According to organizers, over 40% of customers chose robot delivery once they learned about the new option. Network representatives noted that many customers enjoy watching the innovative electric robot deliver groceries and prepared meals right to their doorstep in just 20 minutes.

The project is being implemented in collaboration with Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The robots operate within a 2-kilometer radius, delivering orders in under 30 minutes. In fact, the average delivery time has been reduced to just 20 minutes from order placement to receipt.

Each robot can carry up to 60 liters of goods, easily navigating curbs up to 10 centimeters high, recognizing pedestrians, and stopping to avoid collisions. Currently, two robots are operating in the area, notifying customers via WhatsApp upon arrival. Orders must be collected at the building entrance.

Employees are being trained to interact properly with the robots, and according to partners, no major issues have been reported so far.

It is noted that the robotic delivery system has great potential, especially in villa communities. However, the robots are currently unable to climb stairs or use elevators, so deliveries are made only up to the entrance of buildings.
