RTA Launches Second Phase of Marine Station Upgrades in Dubai
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has announced the start of the second phase of its marine station modernization program. As part of this project, five key stations — Al Fahidi, Baniyas, Al Seef, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Bluewaters — will be renovated. The initiative aims to enhance passenger comfort, improve service quality, and combine modern design with the cultural heritage of the emirate.
Key Improvements
The upgraded stations will feature advanced air-conditioning systems and spacious waiting areas, including specially equipped spaces for people with disabilities. The architectural concept draws inspiration from Dubai’s maritime heritage and the traditional wooden abras, preserving the city’s cultural identity while incorporating modern architectural solutions.
Convenience and Integration
The revamped stations will be connected to major residential and tourist areas and integrated with other public transport modes, such as metro, tram, and buses. This approach will ensure smoother mobility for both residents and visitors while reducing reliance on private vehicles.
Safety and Accessibility
As part of the upgrade, safety measures have been enhanced with the installation of CCTV cameras and fire alarm systems. The design also includes accessible ramps and smooth pathways that comply with international inclusivity standards.
Strategic Importance
This project is part of RTA’s long-term strategy to develop Dubai’s marine transport infrastructure and aligns with the city government’s vision of delivering world-class transport services. The upgraded stations are expected to improve service quality, strengthen connections between key city areas, and make traveling across Dubai more comfortable and safe.
