In 2024, Tesla once again found itself in the spotlight, becoming the leader among automakers in the number of recalled vehicles. According to Tengri Auto, citing Motor1, the American electric vehicle giant recalled a record 5,135,697 vehicles. This impressive figure stemmed from just 15 recall campaigns initiated by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Popular models like the Model 3, Model X, and even the much-anticipated Cybertruck were affected. The largest recall involved 2,193,869 vehicles due to an unusual issue—incorrect font size on warning lights. The Cybertruck made the list seven times for various problems, including accelerator pedal malfunctions and defective windshield wipers.

Stellantis took second place with 4,804,285 vehicles recalled, resulting from 72 campaigns. Ford, ranking third, recalled 4,382,695 vehicles across 63 campaigns. Despite the high number of recalls, Ford has reported gradual improvements in product quality.

Other manufacturers also faced significant challenges. Honda recalled 3,794,113 vehicles, while BMW and General Motors recalled 1,832,968 and 1,872,521 vehicles, respectively. The most common issues included electronic malfunctions, fluid leaks, and fire risks.

Notable brands like Toyota, Kia, and Hyundai also conducted major recall campaigns.

These figures highlight the importance of quality control and timely resolution of defects in the rapidly evolving automotive industry. Each recall represents a step toward improving safety for drivers and passengers alike.
