Rezvani Motors Updates the Design of the Retro RR1 Supercar Before Production Launch

American company Rezvani Motors has updated the exterior design of its first supercar, the Retro RR1, ahead of its mass production. Initially, the coupe, based on the Porsche 911 (generation 992), featured narrow, parallelogram-shaped headlights, but it has now received classic round ones. This change has given the car a new look, removing the obvious references to the legendary Porsche 935, reports Tengri Auto.

The Retro RR1 project was unveiled last spring and was conceived as a modern interpretation of the racing Porsche 935, which dominated the tracks in the 1970s. The pinnacle of this model's success was its victory in the 24-hour Le Mans marathon in 1979. Early versions of the Porsche 935 did indeed feature round headlights, but they were later replaced with more aerodynamic narrow units.

In 2018, Porsche itself reimagined the design of the iconic 935, presenting a version based on the 911 GT2 RS with a 700-horsepower engine and a limited run of 77 units. Rezvani initially planned to follow this approach but ultimately considered customer preferences for a more classic style. Now, official RR1 materials no longer mention the Porsche 935—instead, the company emphasizes inspiration from "legendary racing cars of the 1970s."

Despite the design changes, the Retro RR1 remains a striking supercar. In addition to cosmetic tweaks, the company also altered the technical specifications, reducing the number of versions from three to two. Production is set to begin this summer.

Technical Specifications:

  • RR1 600 is built on any 2020 or newer Porsche 911 Carrera. Its 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine has been upgraded to 608 horsepower. It features rear-wheel drive, with a choice of a manual (6- or 7-speed) or 8-speed PDK transmission.
  • RR1 750 is based on the Porsche 911 Turbo S with a 3.8-liter engine, whose power has been increased from 650 to 760 horsepower. This version retains all-wheel drive and the PDK transmission.

Pricing and Production:

The base price of the RR1 is $195,000, not including the cost of the original Porsche 911, which depends on the configuration. The final price of the supercar ranges from $315,000 to $500,000, and with exclusive customizations, it can be even higher. A total of 50 units of the RR1 are planned for production, after which Rezvani Retro may introduce new models.

Earlier, it was reported that one of the most iconic sports cars of the 1990s—the revamped Maserati Shamal—is making a comeback, combining classic Italian style with modern technologies while maintaining the aggressive character of the original.
