Dubai's Public Transport Sets Record — 6.39 Million Passengers During Eid Holidays
During the Eid Al Fitr celebrations from March 30 to April 1, Dubai’s transportation system experienced an exceptional surge in activity. According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), a staggering 6.39 million people used various modes of public transport across the city. This impressive figure highlights how efficiently Dubai’s transport infrastructure performs even during peak periods.
The Dubai Metro, covering both the Red and Green lines, emerged as the most popular mode of transport, carrying 2.428 million passengers. The Dubai Tram was also in high demand, serving 111,130 riders. Public buses transported 1.33 million commuters, connecting even the city’s more remote areas.
Marine transport—including water taxis, ferries, abras, and cruise boats—remained a favorite, with 408,991 boardings recorded. Taxis, both from Dubai Taxi Corporation and licensed franchise operators, served 1.687 million passengers.
Shared mobility services such as e-hail apps, hourly car rentals, and on-demand buses also saw a significant rise in usage, attracting 429,616 riders. This trend reflects a growing preference for flexible and convenient next-generation transportation solutions.
These impressive numbers not only point to the high demand during the holiday period but also demonstrate the trust that both residents and visitors place in Dubai’s modern, safe, and accessible public transport system.
