Transport in Sharjah is becoming more modern: updated routes, maps and direct connections to Dubai make it easier to get around the city.
Sharjah Transport Update
Sharjah's public transport system is becoming more convenient for residents and tourists: the SRTA transport agency has updated its bus route map and optimized its schedule to make travel faster and more comfortable. The branded MOWASALAT buses, painted in white and orange, run daily from 6am to 11pm. Travel can now be paid for cashlessly using the Sayer card, eliminating the need to carry cash.
The main routes connect key areas of the emirate: Rolla, Sharjah Airport, large shopping malls, residential areas of Muwailah and Al Saja’a, as well as the Jubail bus station. On weekdays, buses run at intervals of 10-30 minutes, on weekends - a little less frequently. The cost of a trip varies from 6 to 8 dirhams, depending on the route and method of payment.
Of particular note is route 308, which connects Sharjah with Jebel Ali and Ibn Battuta in Dubai. This is a great option for those who regularly travel between the two emirates: buses run every 30-45 minutes from early morning until evening, and a ticket costs around 12-15 dirhams. In addition, Nol and Sayer transport cards are now partially interchangeable, and mobile applications from RTA and SRTA allow you to conveniently plan your route in real time. All buses are air-conditioned, have separate areas for women and seats for concessionaires, which makes the trip as comfortable as possible even during rush hours.
