Sharjah Municipality Gives Final Deadline for Abandoned Vehicle Owners
The Municipality of Sharjah has issued an official notice directed at owners of vehicles that have remained in impound lots for more than six months. The message, shared on the municipality’s social media pages, comes with a stern warning: unless immediate action is taken to retrieve these vehicles, the consequences could be severe. According to officials, this is the final warning—after which enforcement measures permitted by law will begin.
All affected owners are urged to visit the Inspection and Control Department, located in Industrial Area No. 5, within four days from the date of the announcement. This visit is essential to clarify the reason for impoundment and to complete the necessary procedures for reclaiming the vehicle. Authorities emphasized that the presence of the vehicle owner is required, as decisions regarding the future of the impounded vehicle will be made during this process. It was also reiterated that all storage and handling costs incurred during the impound period must be covered by the vehicle owners.
If this notice is ignored, owners may forfeit their rights to the vehicle. The municipality stated clearly that once the deadline expires, unclaimed vehicles may be sold through public auction. This is a standard procedure under local law for vehicles left unclaimed for extended periods. Authorities are urging all affected individuals to take action immediately in order to avoid additional expenses and legal consequences.
