To pass the driving test in Dubai, you need to go through step-by-step preparation, register correctly through RTA and take into account all the details, including documents and driving rules.

RTA Exam in Dubai

You can register for the exam in several ways: through the official RTA website, the Dubai Drive app, special terminals in driving schools and RTA centers, as well as using the Mahboub chatbot or in person at accredited driving schools such as Belhasa, EDI, Al Ahli and others. Online registration takes no more than two minutes, while at terminals and educational institutions - up to five.

To register, you will need an Emirates ID, a vision test, a valid learner’s license, and additional documents if your license is renewed or revoked. The exam costs around AED 200, with an interpreter available for an additional fee of up to AED 400 if needed. Retaking the exam will incur an additional fee of AED 300 and up.

On the day of the exam, it is important to arrive early with a full package of documents. The exam itself lasts from 20 to 30 minutes and includes checking the technical condition of the car, basic driving skills and parking elements. The results are reported immediately - if you pass, you can pay the final fees and get a driver's license. In case of failure, you will need to re-register and, possibly, additional classes.

There are also updated rules for drivers with a license that has been expired for more than a year or with a license that has been cancelled due to exceeding the permissible number of penalty points. Such candidates are required to undergo training again and take the exams from scratch.

RTA training materials, mobile simulators, YouTube lessons and practical advice from instructors help you prepare for the exam. To increase your chances of success, pay special attention to following the rules of lane changing, using mirrors, recognizing road signs and parking correctly.
