In Dubai, you can park for free at a number of metro stations if you continue your journey on public transport with your Nol card.
Free parking near the metro
Dubai has a Park and Ride program that allows metro passengers to park for free at certain stations. The initiative is aimed at reducing congestion and encouraging the use of public transport.
Free parking is available at the following metro stations:
- Centrepoint (Al Rashidiya): approximately 2,700 spaces.
- Jabal Ali: approximately 3000 spaces.
- Etisalat by e& (Al Qusais): about 2,300 spaces.
- Jumeirah Golf Estates: approximately 400 spaces.
- Nakheel Harbour and Tower: Number of spaces not specified.
To use free parking, you must:
- When entering the parking lot, place your Nol card on the reader.
- Use the same card to travel on the metro.
- When returning, apply the Nol card again at the exit from the parking lot.
- If you do not have a Nol card, you can purchase a red Nol ticket at the entrance to the car park and use it in the same way.
It is important to follow the parking rules:
- Parking is free only when using the metro.
- If the vehicle remains in the parking lot for more than 24 hours, a fee of AED 100 will be charged for each subsequent day, up to a maximum of AED 1,000.
- Loss of Nol card or ticket may result in a fine of Dh152.
- If the vehicle is not picked up within 48 hours, it may be towed.
Additionally, Dubai offers free parking periods:
- From 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM: Most street parking is free.
- Fridays and public holidays: Parking is free, except in multi-storey car parks.
- Sundays: Street parking is usually free all day.
- During Ramadan: Two hours free parking during Iftar.
For up-to-date parking information, it is recommended to use the official RTA Dubai app or check the signs on site.
