Extreme Heat and Humidity in the UAE: May Begins with Soaring Temperatures

Across the United Arab Emirates, truly summer-like weather has set in, with daytime temperatures ranging from 40 to 44°C. The heat is especially intense in coastal cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where high humidity levels amplify the discomfort. The highest recorded temperature was 46.2°C in the Sweihan area (Al Ain) at 1:45 PM. In the coming days, humidity could reach up to 70%, particularly in coastal and inland regions, resulting in a heavy and muggy night ahead.

The forecast for Friday, May 2, 2025, suggests predominantly fair weather with occasional partly cloudy skies. Winds will be light to moderate, initially coming from the southeast and later shifting to the northwest. Gusts may reach up to 35 km/h in some areas, potentially raising dust during the day and temporarily reducing visibility.

As for marine conditions, the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to remain relatively calm. Nevertheless, due to the prevailing weather, residents and tourists are advised to avoid prolonged sun exposure and stay hydrated to prevent heat-related health issues.
